The internet is a pretty magical place. Yes, you can lose hours of your life watching videos of cats playing the piano, but you can also find intense beauty, incredible stories, and enough inspiration to last several lifetimes if you know where to look. When it comes to the world of wedding planning, the best place to find ideas when you’re newly engaged is by hitting the blogs.
Sharing everything from real weddings and stunningly executed styled shoots to trend forecasts and opinion pieces from experts across the industry, there are blogs out there to suit absolutely any taste and style. Here are some of my favourite wedding planning blogs to get you started on your quest for wedding inspiration. I’d love to know which wedding blogs you love most, so why not share some links in the comments?
The biggest name on the UK blog scene, and with good reason, Rock My Wedding offers daily doses of inspiration, with a back catalogue of literally thousands of gorgeous real weddings to browse through. The team at RMW cover a wide range of styles, with a thread of what I’d describe as ‘down-to-earth luxury’ running through everything they feature.
Why you should check it out: A vast range of content to browse through, an incredibly well-populated supplier directory, concise wedding write-ups that don’t scrimp on the details and a clear and easy-to-navigate layout make this a no-brainer to bookmark.
I absolutely love Love My Dress. Created in 2009, founder Annabel has worked incredibly hard to build a site that’s at once gorgeous, elegant and truly heartfelt. Yes, there is more pretty across the site’s pages than you could shake a stick at, but there’s also honesty and a focus on marriage, not just on the fabulous party that starts the whole thing off.
Why you should check it out: Beautifully written pieces and well-considered expert features, alongside stunningly luxurious real weddings and dreamy styled shoots. One of our very own Blue Provencal inspired shoots was even featured on the blog.
The wedding media is many wonderful things, but it can be guilty of whitewashing and perpetuating heteronormative ideals. Modern and marvellous blog Nu Bride puts diversity and visual inclusivity at its heart.
Why you should check it out: Nova has created a multi-award winning and gorgeously vibrant online space, which showcases beautiful couples of all ethnicities, and puts emphasis on well-being as well as weddings.
It’s been a dramatic year for US blog Style Me Pretty, with it coming within an inch of disappearing before being saved from shutdown by its original founders. When the threat of its closure was announced there was an outcry across the wedding world, and petitions to save it were fervently signed all over the place. I’m thrilled that Style Me Pretty lives on – its real wedding write ups and seriously epic archive (called ‘The Vault’) make up the majority of wedding-related pins on Pinterest.
Why you should check it out: This site is an international treasure for a good reason. Its gallery layout is perfect for pinning, and with easily searchable back catalogue content, you can get happily lost for days at a time among flowers, favours, decor, dresses and more.
Founder Sara Russell saw a gap in the wedding blog market and with Wedding Sparrow she filled it with loveliness. She’s created a serene and artistic corner of the internet. The editorials, real weddings and other features published on Wedding Sparrow come from across the globe, and are united by a light filled aesthetic and exquisite fine-art photography.
Why you should check it out: The focus on the delightful details in the photography and sheer beauty of this blog will give you many happy hours of browsing.
